Alongside the villas, glamping, spa and dining the resort already offers, K-Club Ubud is adding four parts of wellness: recovery, movement, beauty and longevity.
The first step came on September 20, when The Jungle Pool opened as the resort's recovery space, together with a healthy restaurant that completes the recovery concept. The other parts will open in phases.
Ubud has been the wellness centre of Bali for a long time. People come here for yoga, Balinese massage and traditional healing, for retreats in the hills, and for food that leaves them feeling better than when they arrived. There is more on offer than most travellers could get through in a week.
The hard part is getting to all of it. A yoga class is in one part of town, the sauna you read about is in another, and the spa is across the valley. Ubud's roads are narrow and busy, so a morning that starts with good intentions can turn into an hour in a car between appointments.
There is a second problem that is easier to miss. Every place you visit starts from zero. The yoga teacher doesn't know what class you took the day before, and most practitioners can only guess from whatever you tell them. You end up choosing treatments from a list, based on what sounds good, and hoping the combination works.
Those are the two gaps K-Club Ubud set out to close: too much travelling between places, and no plan built around the person.
K-Club Ubud's vision is to bring every part of wellness facility into one resort. No other resort in Ubud puts recovery, movement, beauty and longevity together in one place, with one plan connecting them.
To put it into perspective, you'll be able to wake up in your villa, start the day in the sauna, train or have a treatment in the afternoon, enjoy a spa session before night falls, and end with dinner. You never need to get into a car, because every part of the day happens inside the resort.
Each pillar covers a different side of looking after yourself.
Recovery helps the body rest and repair after travel, exercise or a few late nights. It is the pillar that is open today, at The Jungle Pool, covered in more detail below.
Movement means a gym and pilates, for guests who want to keep training while they travel and for those getting back into it after time off.
Beauty covers skin and body treatments, from skin analysis to facials and body therapies.
Longevity is the most advanced part of the program, with treatments people usually travel to a specialist clinic for:
Each of these will get its own post here when it opens.
What connects the four pillars is the plan. Every wellness stay will begin with step zero: a body scan and a consultation with the team, before anything is booked.
The scan uses a smart system to build a picture of your body, including measurements such as body composition and posture, so the team works from real numbers instead of guesses. The consultation covers what a machine can't measure: how you've been sleeping, how much you move in a normal week, any old injury or stressful year behind you, and what you want to take home.
From there, the team builds your plan. A guest arriving after a long-haul flight with a stiff back might get the sauna circuit, some gentle mobility work and early nights. Someone who trains hard at home might get gym sessions, pilates and regular cold plunges. A guest focused on ageing well might spend more of their time on longevity treatments.
Because everything happens in one resort, the people looking after you see the whole picture. Your trainer knows what your scan showed, and your therapist knows you trained that morning. If something isn't working, or your body responds better than expected, the plan changes with you.
You don't have to wait for the rest of the program. The Jungle Pool is open now, and it is the easiest way to see where K-Club Ubud is heading. The idea behind it is simple: warm the body up, cool it down quickly, rest, and repeat. People have been doing this for centuries, from Finnish saunas to Turkish bathhouses.
You heat up in the dry sauna, the gentler infrared sauna or the warm steam of the hammam, take a minute or two in the cold plunge, then rest in the hot pool before the next round. Three or four rounds is a good place to start, and if it's your first time, the team can suggest a simple routine. If you are pregnant or have a heart condition or high blood pressure, check with your doctor before using saunas or cold water.
Afterwards, the restaurant upstairs serves garden-to-table food, cold-pressed juices and Balinese jamu made in house.
The Jungle Pool is open daily to the public and to resort guests. Pool access runs from 8 am to 8 pm, and the restaurant from 11 am to 10 pm. Space is limited, so booking ahead is recommended. You can book online or contact the team on WhatsApp, and walk-ins are welcome when there is room.
For more on each facility, see The Jungle Pool. The wellness page explains the full program, and if you'd like to stay a few nights and start every morning in the sauna, have a look at the villas.
